    Our School

A very warm welcome to Hotwells Primary School.

I hope you enjoy exploring our website and getting a sense of what makes our school such a special place to learn and grow.

Hotwells is proudly “Small but Mighty”. We are small in size but big in ambition, with high expectations for every child and a strong track record of excellent outcomes. Being a small school means that children are known incredibly well, relationships are strong and there is a genuine sense that everyone belongs.

We are also proud to be a non-denominational school, welcoming families of all faiths and none. As the only school of this kind in our immediate local area, we offer something distinctive: a truly inclusive community school at the heart of Hotwells.

Community is central to who we are. Families often describe Hotwells as having the feel of a village school in the middle of the city and that captures us rather well. Children, staff and families know one another, our links with the local area are strong and we want every child to feel safe, valued and part of something.

Alongside this nurturing ethos, we are unapologetically ambitious. We want our children to be curious, creative and confident learners who enjoy challenge, take pride in their work and are committed to doing their best. Our strong academic outcomes matter to us, but so too does developing thoughtful, resilient young people who are ready to contribute to the world around them.

Our location is a huge part of our identity. With Bristol Harbour and so much of the city on our doorstep, we make the most of opportunities to take learning beyond the classroom through trips, visitors, local partnerships and experiences that bring the curriculum to life.

We believe children thrive when school and home work closely together. Whether your family is already part of Hotwells or you are considering joining us, you can expect a warm welcome, open communication and a school that will know and value your child as an individual.

If you are thinking about choosing Hotwells, I would encourage you to come and see us for yourself. I am incredibly proud to be Head of School here, but the best way to understand what makes Hotwells special is to see the school in action, meet our children and experience the warmth, energy and sense of community for yourself. We would be delighted to show you around!
